Church of Nuestra Señora de Manaoag or Simply Manaoag Church

The Church of Nuestra Señora de Manaoag has been under the care of the Dominicans since 1605. The first church, made of wood, lasted for about a century. The second one, built of stone, was inaugurated in 1720. In 1733, it was donated to the Dominican Corporation but was later destroyed by an earthquake in 1892. A temporary wooden church was then built but was burned during the 1898 insurrection.

Reconstruction of the current church began in 1901 when the Dominicans returned. The image of Nuestra Señora de Manaoag is famous across Pangasinan. During the revolution, it was kept safe in Dagupan and later brought back to the sanctuary. In April 1926, it was solemnly crowned in the presence of thousands of devotees.

Inside the church compound, many vendors blocked the pathways with their stalls and customers. There are small parks where visitors often take photos. Inside the church itself, a large crowd gathered near the altar, also taking pictures, which made the area even more congested.

The altar of Nuestra Señora de Manaoag was especially crowded, with people lighting candles, taking photos, and collecting water, which many believe to be miraculous.
