SVD Laudato Si' Farm, commonly called SVD Farm, is a peaceful farm and spiritual retreat in Tagaytay. The name SVD stands for the Society of the Divine Word, a Catholic missionary congregation. The land has been connected to the SVD community since the 1960s, but the farm that visitors know today was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic and officially opened to the public in 2021.
What makes SVD Farm special is its unique combination of nature, relaxation, and spirituality. Many people visit because of its beautiful gardens, along with the cool weather of Tagaytay. Unlike many busy tourist spots, the farm has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy gardens, organic farming areas, prayer spaces, and a chapel, making it a good place not only for sightseeing but also for reflection and prayer, especially during Holy Week.
There are Catholic priests in SVD Farm because the place is owned and managed by SVD priests and seminarians. They stay there as part of their religious mission and training. The priests help in spiritual activities such as celebrating Mass, guiding retreats, and welcoming visitors. They also take part in farm work because they believe caring for the land is part of caring for God’s creation. This is inspired by Pope Francis’ teaching in Laudato Si’, which encourages people to protect and care for the environment.
SVD Farm is special because it is more than just a farm or tourist destination. It is a place where people can enjoy nature, find peace, and deepen their faith at the same time.
