If you are planning a trip to Tagaytay, you might notice a peaceful spiritual spot right next to the famous Picnic Grove. This place is called Our Lady of Manaoag at Tierra de Maria. While the chapel inside is small and cozy, you cannot miss it from the road because of the giant, 50-foot-tall statue of the Virgin Mary that stands right above the entrance.
The history of this beautiful shrine goes back to the early 2000s. It became officially well-known around 2004 when it started holding special healing masses every Saturday. Since then, it has grown from a simple, quiet prayer garden into one of the most loved religious landmarks in the city.
During Holy Week, this small chapel gets incredibly busy with visitors. Many people traveling to Tagaytay make it a key stop for Visita Iglesia, which is the Catholic tradition of visiting different churches on Maundy Thursday. The shrine is also home to a special replica image of Our Lady of Manaoag. Because many Catholics believe this image helps heal the sick, pilgrims travel from all over to pray for their health, write their personal prayers on the chapel's famous prayer wall, and find a moment of peace during the holidays.
